Introduction This item is designed as a discussion topic supported by two information appendices and two presentations. The purpose is to enable the Committee to meet its obligations (acting as the Council’s Crime and Disorder Committee) to scrutinise community safety matters in the district. 2. Overview of local arrangements for managing community safety Appendix A contains a summary of the current context within which community safety is managed in North Norfolk, together with a synopsis of the Council’s input to the process. 3. Combating anti-social behaviour A presentation will be made to the Committee on the appointment and role of the Partnership Anti-Social Behaviour Co-ordinator, a new post which is jointly funded and hosted with Victory Housing Trust. 4. Policing in North Norfolk A presentation will be made to the Committee by Chief Inspector Neil Baily and will include an update on policing arrangements and organisation in North Norfolk together with the latest crime statistics for the district. 5. Preparations for the introduction of Police and Crime Commissioners in 2012 Appendix B contains an LGA briefing note on preparations for the introduction of Police and Crime Commissioners to replace Police Authorities in 2012. As part of this process, the Council will be asked to nominate a member to sit on a county Police and Crime Panel whose role will be to call the Police Commissioner to account. 6. Implications of this report This is a status report and has no specific financial, risk, sustainability or equality implications 7.
