This conference is nationwide, and was originally invented by MIT ii. Many other colleges, including Amherst and Clark, hold this conference iii. Amherst will hold theirs in the fall from now on, and we will help at theirs and they will help at ours iv. Would at least hold one event per semester, this would be Splash every spring c. Would also hold other events, based on need and interest 2. SGA Change in Bylaws/Addition Presentation 7:15 a. Would create a funding committee for the SGA Treasurer b. Had been chartered in the past and lost membership. It is possible they may lose membership again. iii. “They won’t effect the campus too much, so there is no reason not to charter them.”-Senator Emily Coffin iv. Senators are meant to look out of the sustainability of an org v. Every org has a possibility of losing membership and dying out vi. Talked about what they want to present to the head of dining. c. Tomorrow there is a tea about issues in online learning from 7-9pm in CC 102, hosted by the Curriculum Committee. d. Senator Emily Coffin proposed to form a new committee to handle resolutions in a similar manner to charters i. Yes: 39 ii. No: 5 iii. Abstaining: 2 iv. Passed v. Senate Activities Committee wants to do an icebreaker in senate next week f. Safety Issues Committee had lighting walk last night, talked about changing lights to LED, want to increase ride-alongs with PubSafe and have a co-sponsored SGA PubSafe event g. Healthcare Services Committee is trying to set up a meeting with health services, and sent out an email h. Gym Services Committee has dissolved for the fall semester; will resume in spring semester i. Library Hours Committee sent out a survey and has the results j. Remember to CC your House Emails Committee when sending out house emails k. Senators need to complete 6 community service hours by the end of April 7. Chairman Aguilar’s Senate Community Service Clarification a. As Senators, we’re role models and leaders to the Smith Community that need to go above and beyond the bare minimum requirements of attending weekly Senate meetings, attending weekly house council meetings, and sending out weekly house emails i. Senators need to work to implement the changes that the Smith Community needs by joining and being active on various Senate committees b. Although this 3 hour community service requirement (per semester) is not in the SGA constitution, back on September 24, Senators agreed and signed a Senate Membership Contract to complete this requirement. c.
