The School of Law acknowledges with appreciation the generous gifts of donors who provide the
following scholarships and loans to deserving
students.
ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS
ALVIN R. ALLISON SCHOLARSHIP--A scholarship endowed
by Levelland attorney Alvin R. Allison who is
affectionately knmm as "the father of the Texas
Tech Law School."
DURWOOD H. BRADLEY SCHOLARSHIPS--Scholarships
endowed by Mrs. Durwood H. Bradley and friends
and relatives in memory of Mr. Bradley, who was
a prominent Lubbock attorney for many years.
The scholarships are awarded to deserving
students.
KENNETH H. BURNS SCHOLARSHIP--Scholarship endowment
established by members of the Victor H. Lindsey
Senate of Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity to
honor their outstanding Houston alumnus, awarded
to students who are members of the national
organization, in good academic standing, and
actively involved in the local Senate; Mr.
Burns has also been a generous contributor to
this fund.
WILLIAM C. CLARK SCHOLARSHIPS--Endowed by Mrs. J .
C. Clark and David G. Clark in memory of their
son and brother, a Lubbock attorney and a member
of the Texas Tech Class of 1942. These
scholarships are awarded to second or third year
students .
CRENSHAW MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP--A scholarship in
memory of Mr . and Mrs. Charles C. Crenshaw Sr ..
Mr . Crenshaw was a partner in the Lubbock frim
of Crenshaw , Dupree and Milam from 1926 until
his death in 1964 . The fund is endowed by
members of the Crenshavl family and scholarship
awards are based on financial need and academic
achievement.

FIRST GRADUATING CLASS SCHOLARSHIP--A scholarship
endowed through contributions by members of the
first Texas Tech graduating law class of
1969-70.
GEORGE H. MAHON FELLOWSHIPS--A scholarship grant
endowed by the Litton Foundation in honor of Mr .
Mahon, the distinguished former Congressman from
Lubbock. These fellowships are awarded to worthy
recipients in any class.
G. HOBERT AND AILEEN HACKNEY NELSON SCHOLARSHIP
FUND--A scholarship grant endowed by longtime
Lubbock resident Mrs. Nelson and the late Mr.
Nelson and their children. The scholarships are
awarded annually to second or third year
students.
JOHN H. SPLAWN JR. ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP--A
scholarship established in honor of trial
attorney Johnny Splawn who has practiced law in
Lubbock since 1952. The fund is endowed by
Splawn's law partner and his wife, John ('74)
and Carolyn Simpson.
CURT F. STEIB, JR., MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP--A
scholarship awarded annually to a student in
financial need in memory of Curt Steib , Jr., a
member of the class of 1977 , The grant is
endowed by his family, classmates, and friends.
TEXAS TECH LAW SCHOOL FREEDOM SCHOLARSHIPS-- A
scholarship fund created to assist students who
have overcome serious social , economic ,
educational, or physical handicap in attaining
a legal education.
W. D. WILSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP--A scholarship
awarded annually by the children of the late
Lubbock attorney W. D. Wilson and presented
through the Ex-Students' Association.

KENNETH H. BURNS--Kenneth H. Burns Endowed Fund.
MIKE AND BERRY CROWLEY SCHOLARSHIPS--These
scholarships were made possible through
donations by friends of the Crowleys given in
celebration of Mike ('74) and Berry's wedding
in 1984.
J. J.DILLARD SCHOLARSHIPS--Presented by Bryan B.
Dillard, a Lubbock attorney, in memory of his
father who became a Lubbock resident near the
turn of the century and practiced law here for
a number of years.
FULBRIGHT & JAWORSKI SCHOLARSHIPS--Scholarship
awards presented to the Chair of the. Board of
Barristers, the Administrative Director of the
Legal Research Board and two outstanding members
of the Law Review.
ANITA ELI7.ABETH NELSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP-Presented by former Tech La,v Professor Joseph
P. Nelson in memory of his first wife who died
in Lubbock; the scholarship is awarded on the
basis of scholastic achievement and financial
need.
GEORGE H. NELSON, JR.--G. Hobert and Aileen
Hackney Nelson Endowed Fund.
JOSEPH AND PHYLLIS NELSON SCHOLARSHIP--Presented
by former Tech Law Professor Joseph C. Nelson
and Mrs. Nelson, a former member of the Law
School Staff; the scholarship is awarded on the
basis of scholastic achievement and financial
need.
BUDDY RAKE, SR. MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP--Presented by
attorneys M.E. (Buddy) Rake, Jr. ('72) Michael
Rake ('80), and M. Doug Rake ('84) in memory of
their father; the scholarships are awarded to
the daughter or son of a. blue-collar worker.

by 1971 Texas Tech law graduate Ernest Reeves
from Canyon, Texas, and awarded to a deserving

JUDGE DAN BLAIR LOAN FUND--Funds available to
students for short-term loans in the name of
Judge Blair who served as District Judge for
Lubbock, Hockley, Cochran, and Crosby counties,
1936-1951.
HUNT, RASCHKE, ROBISON AND WEINSTEIN LOAN FUND-Fund established by the Student Bar Association
in honor of the winning team and coach of the
1979 National Moot Court Competition.
JUDGE MARVIN JONES LOAN FUND--Funds for short-term
loans to law students made available by the late
Judge Jones, a leader in the establishment of
Texas Tech, a former Congressman from West
Texas, and former Senior Judge on the U.S. Court
of Claims.

JUDGE E. E. JORDAN LOAN FUND--Fund for law
students in unanticipated, short-term financial
difficulties, provided by Judge Jordan, retired
from the 47th District Court in Amarillo.
VICTOR H. LINDSEY MEMORIAL FUND--Fund for loans
and other financial assistance to law students
in need, created by the Lubbock County Bar
Association and friends of the late Judge
Victor H. Lindsey of the 72nd District Court,
at the suggestion of his widow, Mrs. Lindsey.
DREW SIMPSON MEMORIAL FllJD--Fund to aid students
in financial difficulty, established by the
family, colleagues, and friends of Drew Simpson
('74) on his death in February 1972.
TEXAS TECH LAvJ PBVIEW SCHOLARSHIP AND LOAN FUND-This fund, initially established as a loan
fund, will eventually increase to permit the
awarding of scholarships. Recipients are
limited to members of the Texas r:L'ech Law Review
staff.
E. vJAYNE THODE MEMORIAL LOAN FUND--Fund established by students, colleagues, and friends of
E. Wavne Thode, a visiting professor during
Fall 1979 from the University of Utah, -for his
contribution to and interest in quality legal
education.
