The School of Law acknowledges with appreciation the generous
gifts of donors who provide the following scholarships and loans to
deserving students.
ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS
CRENSHAW MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP--A scholarship in
memory of Mr. & Mrs. Charles C. Crenshaw, Sr. Mr. Crenshaw was
a partner in the Lubbock firm of Crenshaw, Dupree & Milam from 1926
until his death in 1964. The fund is endowed by members of the
Crenshaw family and scholarship awards are based on financial need
and academic achievement.
ALVINR. ALLISON SCHOLARSHIP--A scholarship endowed by
Levelland attorney, the late AMn R. Allison, who is affectionately known
as "the father of the Texas Tech Law SchooL"
FACULTY MINORITY SCHOLARSHIP--A scholarship endowment
established by the faculty of the Texas Tech School of Law. The
scholarship is awarded to a currently enrolled minority student.
DURWOOD H. BRADLEY SCHOLARSHIPS--Scholarships
endowed by Mrs. Durwood Bradley and friends and relatives in memory
of Mr. Bradley, a prominent Lubbock attorney for many years. The
scholarships are awarded to deserving students.
FIRST GRADUATING CLASS SCHOLARSHIP--A scholarship
endowed through contributions by members of the first Texas Tech
graduating law class of 1969-70.
KENNETH H. BURNS SCHOLARSHIP--Scholarship endowment
established by members of the Victor H. Lindsey Senate of Delta Theta
Phi Law Fraternity to honor their outstanding Houston alumnus,
awarded to students who are members of the national organization, in
good academic standing, and actively involved in the local Senate. Mr.
Burns has also been a generous contributor to this Fund.
ROBERT GUY CARTER SCHOLARSHIP--Endowed by partners of
the Dallas law firm of Carter, Jones, Magee, Rudberg & Mayes, in honor
of Robert Guy Carter who founded the firm and who has been a
longtime supporter of Texas Tech University and the Law School.
These scholarships are awarded to worthy students who are in need of
financial assistance.
WILLIAM C. CLARK SCHOLARSHIPS--Endowed by Mrs. J.C.
Clark and David G. Clark in memory of their son and brother, a Lubbock
attorney and a member of the Texas Tech Class of 1942. These
scholarships are awarded to second- or third-year students.
COLEMAN-HALL PRESIDENfIAL SCHOLARSHIPS-Endowed by Thomas G. Hall ('81) of Fort Worth. The scholarships
are named to honor the integrity and ideals of James F. Coleman, Jr.,
partner in the Dallas firm of Carrington, Coleman, Sloman &
Blumenthal. The scholarships are awarded to two Austin College
graduates nominated by the President of Austin College.

DR. ARTHUR G. HANSEN SCHOLARSHIP--A scholarship
endowment established from proceeds of a settlement of a lawsuit
involving Dr. Hansen, former Chancellor of Texas A&M University.
Hansen's attorney, W. Stephen Rodgers ('79) of Carperton, Rodgers &
Miller, Bryan, Texas, placed a wager with Hansen that Rodgers' fee,
upon favorable verdict, would be used to endow a scholarship at the
Texas Tech Law School. The scholarship is awarded to a second- or
third-year student.
RICHARD W. HEMINGWAY PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIP-A scholarship endowed by friends and students of former Professor
and Interim Dean Hemingway.
JUNELL FAMILY PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS--The
scholarships are endowed by the families of Frank Junell, cMc leader
and longtime supporter of higher education in Texas, State
Representative Robert Junell ('77) and Dan Junell ('85). The
scholarships are awarded to graduates of Angelo State University
nominated by the President of Angelo State University.
GEORGE H. MAHON FELLOWSHIPS--A scholarship grant
endowed by the Litton Foundation in honor of Mr. Mahon, the
distinguished former Congressman from Lubbock. These fellowships
are awarded to worthy recipients in any class.

OWEN W . McWHORTER ENDOWED SCHOL ARSHIP--Created
to honor Owen W . McWhorter by the Lubbock law firm of McWhorter,
Cobb & Johnson , the scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving
second- or third-year student.
OWEN McWHORTER TUITION SCHOLARSHIP--A scholarship
endowment established by Mr. & Mrs. Ray J. Diekemper, Jr. to honor
Lubbock attorney Owen W. McWhorter. The recipients are encouraged
to adhere to the high ethical standards set by Mr. McWhorter.
JOE H . NAGY SCHOLARSHIP--A scholarship endowed by his wife
and children in honor of Lubbock attorney Joe H. Nagy, former
President of the State Bar of Texas.

PHELAN PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS--Endowed by
Associate Dean Marilyn E. Phelan and her husband, Harold, an attorney
in Levelland . The scholarships are awarded to two Lubbock Christian
University graduates nominated by the President of Lubbock Christian
University.
RUNGE/HOWARD SCHOLARSHIPS-Endowed by Houston
attorney and Law School Foundation President Barbara K. Runge and
her husband, Rusty Howard.
W.F. SHIVER SCHOLARSHIP--A scholarship established in honor
of W.F. Shiver, Superintendent of Post schools. The fund is endowed
by Judge David E. And Larissa Shiver Keltner ('86) of Fort Worth .
EDWARD R. AND JO ANNE M. SMITH SCHOLARSHIP--A
scholarship presented by Lubbock attorney Edward R. Smith and his
wife, Jo Anne. The scholarship is awarded to a deserving student in any
class.
JOHN H . SPLA WN, JR. ENDOWED SCH OL ARSHIP __A
schol.arship e~tablished in honor of trial attorney Johnny Splawn who
practiced law In Lubbock from 1952 until his death in 1988. The fund
is endowed by Splawn's law partner, John Simpson ('74) and his wife,
Carolyn Simpson.
CURT F. STEIB, JR. MEMORIAL SCH OLARSHIP __A scholarship
awarded annually to a student in financial need in memory of Curt Steib,
Jr., a member of the Class of 1977. The grant is endowed by his family
classmates, and friends.

A scholarship fund created to assist students who have overcome
serious social, economic, educational or physical handicap in attaining
a legal education .

awarded annually by the children of the late Lubbock attorney, W.O.
Wilson, and presented through the Ex-Students' Association.

JUDGE DAN BLAIR LOAN FUND-- Funds available to students for
short-term loans in the name of Judge Blair who served as District
Judge for Lubbock, Hockley, Cochran and Crosby counties, 1936-51.
JOSIE BUBANY MEMORIAL LOAN FUND-Established by friends,
family and students to honor the memory of the late Josie Bubany, wife
of Professor Charles P. Bubany.
HUNT, RASCHKE, ROBISON & WEINSTEIN LOAN FUND-Fund established by the Student Bar Association in honor of the winning
team and coach of the 1979 National Moot Court Competition.

JUDGE MARVIN JONES LOAN FUND••Funds for short-term loans
to law students made available by the late Judge Jones, a leader in the
establishment of Texas Tech, a former Congressman from West
Texas, and former Senior Judge of the U.S. Court of Claims.
JUDGE E.E. JORDAN LOAN FUND--Fund for law students in
unanticipated, short-term financial difficulties, provided by Judge
Jordan, retired from the 47th District Court in Amarillo.
VICTOR H. LINDSEY MEMORIAL FUND••Fund for loans and
other financial assistance to law students in need, created by the
Lubbock County Bar Association and friends of the late Judge Victor H.
Lindsey of the 72nd District Court, at the suggestion of his widow, Mrs.

Robert "Rob" Junell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Junell. He was
born in EI Paso, raised in Lubbock, and is married to the former Beverly
Singley of Wellington, Texas. They have three children, Ryan, Keith
Elizabeth and Clay.
JUDGE MEADE F. GruFFIN A W ARD--Cash award from Judge
Griffin's ~ormer briefing attorneys to the graduating law student who,
through Industry, perseverance, integrity, and character, has best
utilized the law school experience to improve and prepare for service to
the profession and to mankind.
Rob Junell completed his public school education in Lubbock, holds an
Associate of Arts degree from New Mexico Military Institute, holds a
Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Texas Tech University,
holds a Master of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of
Arkansas, and graduated with honors in 1976 from the Texas Tech
School of Law.
GEORGE W. AND SARAH H. DUPREE AWARD-Cash award and
inscription of name on a permanently displayed plaque to the member
ofthe graduating class who, in the opinion of the student's colleagues,
best exemplifies the ability desired in one soon to join the legal
profession.
Representative Junell was elected to the House of Representatives in
1988 and is currently serving his second term as Chairman of the
Committee on Appropriations. During his time in the House, two
different speakers and his fellow House members have appointed him
to serve in no less than a dozen special positions of leadership
responsibility within the state and the nation. He has been honored with
two dozen awards in the last six years, including recognition as a Top
Legislator by Texas Monthly magazine (three times), the Dallas Morning
News, the Texas Municipal League, the Texas Chamber of Commerce,
the Texas Civil Justice League, the Vietnam Veterans of America, the
Texas Association of Municipal Health Officials, and the NAACP.
OUTSTANDING PROFESSOR OF THE YEAR--Certificate and
inscription of name on a permanently displayed plaque to the faculty
member voted by the student body as the outstanding professor in an
election conducted by the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity.

In addition to distinguished service in the United States Army, Rob Junell
has served as an assistant football coach, an attorney with a large EI
Paso firm, and a partner in his own firm in San Angelo. Rob is an active
trial lawyer with a broad practice. He serves as a deacon at First
Presbyterian Church.
