To: College of Arts and Sciences Faculty From: Peter Starr, Dean UJ Sofia, Associate Dean of Research Date: November 11, 2014 Re: Page-Charge Program The College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce a program to defray the cost of journal page charges in order to enhance the impact of faculty members’ scholarly work. In recognition of the expense often involved in the publication of research in high-impact journals, the College invites applications on a rolling basis to pay for page charges when other sources of funding are unavailable. For consideration, an article must have a full-time College faculty member as its primary author, or as a co-author with an AU graduate student as primary author. Applications should be a justification for the funding, including how placement in the proposed journal(s) would maximize the work’s impact, and a cost estimate for publication. A copy of the journal article should accompany the application. Applications should be submitted to the CAS Associate Dean of Research at casresearch@american.edu. Decisions about funding will be made by the Dean in consultation with the Associate Dean of Research. Disbursement of funds is contingent on the article’s acceptance to the journal.
