Executive Order D.B. 28
Whereas, I, Dolph Briscoe, Governor of the State of
Texas, pursuant to the authority vested in me, under
the constitution and laws of the State of Texas, do
hereby issue an executive order as follows:
Whereas, the Texas Traffic Safety Act of 1967, Article
6701j-1, Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, authorizes the
governor to establish and administer through appropria t e agencies a statewide traffic safety program
designed to reduce traffic accidents and the resulting
deaths, injuries, and property damage, and to employ
personnel necessary to administer this act; and
Whereas, the said Texas Traffic Safety Act of 1967
authorizes the Governor of the State of Texas to receive
on behalf of the State of Texas all funds available from

4. Executive Order D.B. 3 is hereby repealed.
This executive order is effective on the Sth day of
1976, and shall remain in effect until modified om

safety Act of 1967 for improvement of highway safety
in this state; and
Whereas, an office of traffic safety has been operating
in Texas since 1968 for the purpose of administering
this act; and
Now, therefore, I, Dolph Briscoe, Governor of the State
of Texas, order and direct as follows that:

I. The functions of the Governor's Office of Traffic
Safety are hereby transferred to the Texas Department
of Highways and Public Transportation.
