About me
Hi!  I’m Cassandra, the current Project Leader of Language Tutors and I am
running to be your President next year. I am a 2nd-year Economics student who
started volunteering during my first year as a French tutor. I strongly believe in
giving back to society and I think volunteering is a great chance to develop life-long
skills and meet new people.
Why vote for me?
I am diligent, responsible and devoted to the activities I undertake, as evidenced by the effort I
put this year in the Language Tutors project by creating a survey to receive feedback, organising
a social event, researching teaching materials, maintaining a good communication with
volunteers throughout the year, and promoting the project within the student community.
I have good team-work abilities developed during the group work I have been doing as part of
my course, which will prove beneficial when cooperating with the student exec and staff teams.
I have good observation and evaluation skills developed during the last two years as a student
representative in the Economics Student-Staff Liaison Committee, which will be useful to help
me identify the areas where Warwick Volunteers may need improvement.
I have good presentation skills obtained from my 6-year-long experience as a debater, which
will prove to be an advantage when representing WV in the Steering Committee, when
presenting arguments to the staff members, and when attracting prospective volunteers.
I am approachable and well organised.
The ideas I will advocate for:
Reward the effort of the most committed volunteers and project leaders.
Make the volunteers` training sessions more flexible in terms of timing and content.
Organise optional workshops where volunteers can get guidance from the Careers and Skills
specialists and reflect on how their volunteering activity helped them acquire key skills which
are useful for their studies and future careers
Improve the feedback mechanism through which volunteers can voice their opinions.
Work with the staff team to further increase the funding devoted to the volunteering projects.
Continue to raise awareness of the WV`s achievements both on campus and externally.
Continue the Blog Spot initiative from last year and further improve it.
Continue to foster a sense of community and bonding amongst volunteers by organising
regular fun events.
Increase one-off opportunities for volunteers who are unable to commit long-term to a project.
