Government Defeat in Lords
on Gambling (Geographical Distribution
of Casino Premises Licences) Order
Wednesday 28/03/2007
On 28/03/2007 the government had a defeat in the House of Lords on the Gambling
(Geographical Distribution of Casino Premises Licences) Order: To not approve the order,
which proposed to site a regional "supercasino" in Manchester, plus eight large and eight
small casinos at other locations (citing in support the critical report of the Merits of
Statutory Instruments Committee).
This was defeat number 11 in the parliamentary session.
