Government Defeat in Lords on Political Parties and Elections Bill Monday 15/06/2009 On 15/06/2009 the government had a defeat in the House of Lords on an amendment to the Political Parties and Elections Bill: To require that prior approval has been obtained from a magistrate before the Electoral Commission can exercise its powers to enter premises and inspect documents of political parties.
