Motorists can expect intermittent traffic delays, noise, dust and
heavy equipment near the project area. Construction crews will
work to minimize impacts to nearby businesses, residents, and
commuters. We appreciate your patience during construction.
Travelers are encouraged to give themselves more time and
anticipate possible traffic delays.

The project will replace the existing six-lane Genesee Avenue
overpass with a ten-lane bridge. Along with the replacement of
the overcrossing, the project will also widen the freeway access
ramps, add an auxiliary lane in each direction on I-5 between
Genesee Avenue and Roselle Street, and construct a new,
separated bike path that connects the Sorrento Valley COASTER
station to UC San Diego.

interchange began late February and is anticipated to take
approximately three years to complete.
