Shift – Newsletter Article The San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) have launched ShiftSanDiego.com, the newest source for transportation solutions, trip planning, and up-to-date construction information. The purpose of Shift is to help the traveling public make informed transportation choices during construction. The web portal has all the tools and resources you need to plan a better commute and navigate through construction with real time traffic and transit information, a multi-modal trip planner, and constructions updates. Shift is also your connection to incentives and resources that make it easier for you to try a new commute. The site is mobile responsive for on-the-go planning on your smart phone or tablet. A number of transportation improvements are underway in and around the Golden Triangle. Stay one step ahead and bookmark ShiftSanDiego.com as your go-to resource for transportation and construction information. For example, learn about the construction at the Interstate 5 (I-5)/Genesee Avenue interchange that broke ground in mid-February. This project is anticipated to take approximately three years to complete, and will replace the existing six-lane bridge with a ten-lane bridge. Along with the replacement of the overcrossing, the project will also widen the freeway access ramps, add an auxiliary lane in each direction on I-5 between Genesee Avenue and Roselle Street, and construct a new, separated bike path that connects the Sorrento Valley COASTER station to UC San Diego. Look for the Shift team out and about in the Golden Triangle to assist you with finding the best transportation choice and answer any questions you have about construction.
