Freelance translators, undergraduate and postgraduate translation students, translation tutors, project managers Course Objectives This course will introduce you to the new version of SDL Trados, Studio 2015, one of the most dominant translation technology tools in the translation industry. You will become familiar with the user interface and the several actions you can perform for translation and review, as well as ways to organise and export your work effectively. Software SDL Trados Studio 2015 Course Content The first part of the course will focus on the rationale behind the structure of Studio 2015 in comparison to the previous versions and the reasons that have made it popular among translation companies. We will also discuss the basics of translation technology and the components of translation software During the second part of the course, you will be introduced to the main functions of the software and you will be guided through processes of translation, as well as building your own projects and resources. By the completion of the tasks that follow this process, you will be able to use Studio 2015 in order to create, complete and deliver your projects. In the last part of the course, we will import and work on different types of files, discuss export solutions, compatibility with other software and term bases and explain the options available in: QA, alignment, terminology and memory management, statistics, reports etc. Finally, participants will be added to an online group that will last for a week where they can talk about their experience using Studio 2015 and discuss any issues with the rest of the participants and the tutor.
