Laboratory Assistant (P/T) – Theotherlab Pty. Ltd.
Worked as part time laboratory assistant preparing samples for
analysis in the soil laboratory. This involved obtaining field
samples, completing field sample sheets, preparation of samples
using sieves and ovens to dry them, then submitting them to the
laboratory for analysis. I was available on an “on call basis”.

Organic Group Laboratory Assistant – Simulab Pty. Ltd.
In this capacity I was responsible for assisting with the preparation
of samples and the analysis of air, water and soil. In particular I was
trained in the following tasks:
- Soil sample preparation – coning and quartering and riffling.
- Obtaining water samples from water bodies.
- Use of field probes such as dissolved oxygen meters.
- Conductivity and pH determination.
- Turbidity determination.
- Microbiological sampling of water.
- Loading high volume air samplers and retrieving the papers.

In this capacity have been responsible for analysis in the following
areas:
- General environmental analysis.
- Air quality monitoring.
- Environmental microbiology – including analysis of water
for faecal coliform, total coliform, colony count, and
examination of waters for the presence of protozoans
(giardia L.).
- Water quality monitoring.
- Soil analysis.
- Chemical analysis of industrial materials including
petrochemicals, metal products, paints, cosmetics food, and
waste water.
- Instrument maintenance.
- General organic chemistry and organic chemical analysis.
