C6 OE Comprehension
Please note: the answers are written in note form for ease of reference. It is expected that the
candidates answer in sentences in their own words.
4 maximum marks per question for content +2 maximum marks per question for language.
Beware of lifting.
Lifting = word-for-word copying from the text instead of an answer that is tailor-made to the
question. Often a candidate who lifts will copy large chunks of text in the hope that the
Examiner will be able to select the relevant bits that might constitute an answer, which is NOT
allowed.
2 language marks: clear appropriate language and vocabulary in the candidate’s own words.
Few technical errors and no lifting.
1 language mark: for partially successful communication of the answer, but with a few errors
and occasional lifting.
0 language marks: thin, inappropriate use of language and limited vocabulary. Response can
