Biographies
Rory Doyle is a Product Manager with Smiths Detection where he is responsible for the development
and deployment of the company’s millimetre-wave people screening products. He has managed the
development of mm-wave detection and security systems from the commencement of the activity
within Smiths and has overseen product deployments in a wide range of applications.
Christian Evers, got his Master of Science in Microwave Technology 1983 at the Technical University
of Hannover. He started his career at Rohde&Schwarz in Munich as R&D engineer for high frequency
design.
After responsibility of different groups of Test & Measurement instruments (Spectrum- and Network
Analysers) he got the responsibility for the department of Microwave Development and Technology at
Rohde&Schwarz and founded a team for the new field of work, Microwave imaging.
Mr. Evers is now working in the position of the Senior Director for Microwave R&D, Technology and
Microwave Imaging at Rohde&Schwarz.
Sylvia Kingsmill, BA, LLB, is a National Partner in Deloitte’s Enterprise Risk Services practice, and the
firm’s Data Protection and Privacy Leader. She has over 15 years’ experience in providing strategic,
risk-based privacy and compliance advisory services, serving a diverse, global client base.
Her specialty is in advising executive teams on the development and implementation of data-driven
digital strategies to support major IT and business transformations, alignment with privacy
requirements, including privacy governance. Sylvia assists clients with operationalizing consumer
protection laws and transforming existing compliance and privacy programs to align with evolving
regulatory expectations, often as a result of internal audit or regulatory findings.
Sylvia recently developed the Privacy by Design Certification Program with Ryerson’s Big Data and
Privacy Institute to help clients launch new products and services through privacy enhancing
technologies to expand their digital footprint.
Sylvia is a licensed lawyer, former Chief of Staff to the Privacy Commissioner/Ontario and Chief
Privacy Officer for a global non-for-profit health care organization, and a member of the International
Association of Privacy Professionals.
Dariusz (Darek) Kloza, LLM is a researcher in privacy and personal data protection at the Research
Group on Law, Science, Technology, and Society (LSTS) at Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and at the
Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO). His expertise concentrates on the governance and practice of
impact assessments for emerging technologies. To that end, he has been involved in a number of EU
co-funded research project, such as PIAF (A Privacy Impact Assessment Framework for data
protection and privacy rights) and EPINET (Integrated Assessment of Societal Impacts of Emerging
Science and Technology from within Epistemic Networks). He holds both an LLM in Law and
Technology (2010) from the Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology, and Society (TILT) at Tilburg
University (with distinction) and a master degree in law from the University of Bialystok (2008).

Erik Luysterborg is a Partner of Deloitte Belgium. He leads their Cyber Risk Services group as well as
the European Data Protection and Privacy client services within the EMEA region. He is also the
founder of the Deloitte European Privacy Academy. In the past, he also acted for four years as the
global Chief Privacy Officer for Deloitte worldwide (DTT). He has over 15 years clients experience in
this area and has somewhat of a hybrid background as he is both a lawyer as well as a security
professional. He and his multi-disciplinary team of security, legal, operational and technical
professionals now provide pragmatic cross-functional solutions to clients’ privacy and cybersecurity
challenges. Before joining Deloitte, he worked at JP Morgan in Brussels, New York and London in their
Legal and Compliance team. He has extensive knowledge of the financial services sector.
He has built up a strong international network of security and privacy experts and has excellent
relations and contacts with many national data protection authorities and is able to bring this
expertise to bear in his client’s cross border projects. Erik is currently an active member of the IAPP
(International Association of Privacy Professionals), holds the CIPP certificate (Certified International
Privacy Professional), is a member of EPON (European Network of Privacy Officers) and a number of
technology working groups.
Frank Schnürer, received his Diploma in Physics from Karlsruhe University in 1999. He joined
Fraunhofer ICT in 2000 where his research concentrates on the detection, dispersion and expansion of
explosive traces. He is involved in several international and national R+D projects.
