ANS 228X – Lab Animal Science – 3 credits – Dr. Jennifer Bundy.
§ This course may be substituted for one of your three 200-level option courses. This will require a
substitution once you have received a grade in this course. However, the faculty has not decided on
a revised list of 200-level option courses. If you plan on taking this awesome course, let’s visit about
where it fits in your degree plan.
ANS 427X – Beef Cattle Cow-Calf Management – 3 credits – Dr. Patrick Gunn
§ This course will be taught each fall, and ANS 426 will be taught each spring and be changed to Beef
Cattle Feedlot Management. You may take both of these courses, however, you may only
use ONE of them as one of your 400-level option courses. The second one will be an elective.
ANS 223 – Poultry Science – 3 credits – Dr. Elizabeth Bobeck.

Scholarships
National Dairy Shrine Scholarships
There are multiple scholarships available through this program, including five from the National Dairy Shrine/Dairy
Management, Inc. Milk Marketing-Dairy Products; five from the National Dairy Shrine/Dairy Management, Inc.
Education & Communication Scholarships; two from NDS/McCullough; and MORE!
Deadline: April 15th
If you would like to apply for any of the scholarships, please visit the NDS website at www.dairyshrine.org to download the
applications. If you have any questions, please contact the NDS office at info@dairyshrine.org. Winners of these awards
will be announced this summer, with the presentation of awards to be held at the annual NDS awards banquet in Madison,
Wisconsin on Thursday October 6, 2016.
2016 Minnesota Pork Board Scholarship
The Minnesota Pork Board will award up to five $1,000 scholarships to students studying agriculture, emphasizing in the
pork industry.
Applicants must be a Minnesota resident at a two or four year college and not received the award before.

National Poultry and Food Distributors Association 2016 Scholarships
The NPFDA is awarding scholarships to various students of agricultural colleges and universities across the United States.
Qualifications:

§ Pursuing a food or poultry agricultural related degree

§ Provide transcript and letter of recommendation

Duties:

Northern International Livestock Exposition (NILE) Internship
Where: Billings, Montana
When: October 13th – 23rd
Interns will have the opportunity to assist in all aspects of event planning and execution for The NILE Stock Show and
Rodeo. The Internship program provides the opportunity to gain training and work experience in the livestock and equine
industries as well as events based business.
Offering four internship opportunities: livestock emphasis, equine emphasis, rodeo relations, and media and
communications.

Summer job available for a dedicated, high energy, self-starting Iowa State University Student during the summer of 2016.
Students employed at the Jeff and Deb Hansen Agriculture Student Learning Center have a unique opportunity to be part
of the success of a state-of-the-art facility on ISU’s campus. They can expect to gain real-world skills as they work side-byside with industry and academic professionals during events.
Responsibilities:
§ Set up and tear down events
§ Clean and maintain facility
§ Maintain grounds around the facility
§ Must be able to run equipment for various tasks
