Parish Council is due for election in May.
Its current four years term then expiring. The Elections Team at Daventry
District Council will be holding a briefing for potential candidates and
agents in the run up to the Local District and Parish Elections in May.
The briefing will cover the nomination process, the election timetable,

away with you and ask any questions you may have. We would like to
point out that we are awaiting new style nomination forms so please do
not download the present Electoral Commission forms. The date and
time of this briefing is Monday 14th April 2014 at the Daventry District

Please can you let me or anyone else in the Elections Team know if you
would like to attend by Friday 11th April at the latest. If you wish to
attend but cannot make this date, please let us know and we would be
happy to go through any issues you may have at another time.

Project Manager
We have put monies aside for the
refurbishment of the Dryden Hall,
to include replacement verandah,
refurbished back store area, toilets
and some external tasks, plus
complete redecoration of the Hinton
Room. We need a project manager to
co-ordinate and oversee the works.
This may suit a retired engineer
or someone currently in between
employment, but with project
management skills.
Neighbourhood Plan
We fully support Bob Snedker in
leading the steering group for
the neighbourhood plan and
currently have 3 residents that
have come forward, ideally we
are aiming for 6-8 people. This is
a chance for you to have a say on
what you want the village to look
like, from housing to protecting
open areas and the community.
Orchards have been mentioned,
education, facililites for the older
residents, external seats and what
is passionate to you to protect
and maintain.

A RAMBLE TO CHURCH CHARWELTON AND BACK
A pleasant circular walk of about one and a half hours; interesting
remains of the Medieval Village can be seen as well as the church.
1. Start at the bridleway known locally as “The Red Road”,
opposite the top of Phipps Road on the Byfield Road. Walk up
past the farm on the left and until you come to a cattle grid.
2. Go on in the same direction across the field, keeping the
hedge on your right. Through a gate and across the clearly
marked path over the field. Head for a bridge over the dismantled
Great Central Railway and cross it.
3. The path continues on and you cross the infant River Cherwell.
4. So far you have been on the long
distance path known as the Jurassic Way.
Keep the hedge to your right and follow it
until you come to an opening on the right.
5. Here the path turns right through the
farmyard. Continue through another gate
and straight on, keeping the hedge on
your left. At the end of the field go into the
next one and immediately turn right.
6. Keep the hedge on your right. The path
goes down to the Cherwell again.
7. Straight ahead over the next field and
over a rather high stile. The path is clearly
marked across the field, keeping the
hedge on your left. Then left through a gate and over to your
right in the next field. Across two more stiles, another field and
the path heads down to the corner of the SARA playing fields.
8. Then straight down to the Byfield Road again.
