02/14/00 Cruise Activity Request (CAR) Form Revised for UVIS 02/14/00 Observation Name: URMULTISTAR Submitted By: Joshua Colwell Measurement Objective: Intensity and transmitted spectra of more than one star during consecutive occultations of stars by rings. Scientific Objective: High resolution radial profiles of ring optical depth at multiple azimuths in less than one orbit period show two dimensional structure of density and bending waves excited in rings by gravitational perturbations. Activity Description: Point UVIS HSP to first star prior to occultation start. Orient slit tangent to rings if possible. Stare at star (track [RA, DEC] on SKY). Record HSP data and FUV spectra. Slew to next star and sequence without interruption in data taking. Repeat for all stars in observation. Activity Start Time : (at least provide an activity window) See attached list. Activity Duration: (per iteration) Variable. See attached list. Number Of Iterations: See attached list. Interval Between Iterations: Variable. See attached list. Target : (for example: Titan) SKY (various stars). See attached list. Pointing: (feature or position on target, slit orientation, module used…) HSP to star. Slit orientation tangent to rings. ORSOCC module (fixed inertial pointing). Estimated Data Volume: (in Mbits) Variable. See attached list for durations. Instrument Set Up: (use ODC’s from ODH or suggest alternative setup) Notes: (any special characteristics, or requirements that go beyond the above information) Data collection is continuous. In the event of a conflict, a partial observation is still useful and desired. 02/14/00 ObserStart Time vation Set 1: Star 1 2006 Nov 09 08:50 1: Star 2 2006 Nov 09 10:40 2: Star 1 2008 Feb 08 01:00 2: Star 2 2008 Feb 08 06:30 2: Star 3 2008 Feb 08 13:50 End Time Duration Star Name (sec) 2006 Nov 09 5400 10:20 2006 Nov 09 30000 19:00 2008 Feb 08 18000 06:00 2008 Feb 08 8400 13:30 2008 Feb 08 7800 14:50 Right Ascension Declination Nu Cen 207.376 -41.6878 Data Volume (Mbits) 2.43E+01 Alp Lup 220.483 -47.3884 1.35E+02 Alp Lup 220.483 -47.3884 8.10E+01 Alp Ara 262.96 -49.876 3.78E+01 Lam Sco 263.402 -37.104 3.51E+01
