As the premier annual gathering of pharmaceutical science and manufacturing
professionals, ISPE Annual Meeting facilitates the exchange of new ideas and the
creation of new relationships among industry leaders to enable ongoing
development of industry best practices and solutions. The Annual Meeting
networking events are an enjoyable way for attendees to network and share
information.
Evening events on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday are open to all registered
delegates.
The Tuesday Night Party is included in the Full Education Delegate Fee and may
be purchased a la carte by conference one-day education pass holders, exhibitor
badge holders, and guests.
The Guest Package includes the Welcome Reception on Sunday night, the Monday
brunch cruise on the San Diego Harbor, a choice between shopping in La Jolla or
strolling in Coronado on Tuesday, and the Tuesday Night Party.
Monday’s COP Night Reception and COP Dinners are not included in any package
fees and must be purchased a la carte by filling out the registration form in the
back of this brochure, or by registering online.
Three Optional Events are offered on Wednesday afternoon and require an
additional fee for all registered education delegates, exhibitors, and guests.

Our Guest Package includes entrance to the Sunday Night Welcome Reception in
the Exhibit Hall, a San Diego Harbor brunch cruise on Monday, the choice of
shopping in La Jolla or strolling in Coronado on Tuesday, and the Tuesday Night
Party. Activities are available a la carte as well.

Seaside Shopping in La Jolla
Enjoy the beauty of La Jolla, one of San Diego’s most popular places to visit. First,
experience the dazzling underwater world of marine life at the Birch Aquarium,
where you can explore the nation’s largest marine science museum, marvel at the
most extensive collection of marine life from the Gulf of Mexico, encounter
thousands of creatures in 34 special exhibits, and explore a rocky tide pool
overlooking the spectacular La Jolla coastline.
Then, take some time to sightsee and shop in the enchanting village of La Jolla,
where you will find world-class restaurants and dozens of shops, art galleries, and
specialty boutiques. Enjoy the town’s exquisite combination of a southern European
resort atmosphere and Southern California fun!
Strolling in Coronado
Take a leisurely narrated walking tour through quaint Coronado Island – once the
playground of presidents and princesses. Learn tales and tidbits of more than one
hundred years of remarkable history on a walking tour encompassing the stately
mansion of John D. Spreckels, the San Francisco sugar baron, the magnificent Hotel
Del Coronado, the cottage of the Duchess of Windsor, and the home where Frank L.
Baum created the popular novel, The Wizard of Oz.
Following the tour, take some time to wander through the streets, visit the Hotel Del
Coronado, and submerse yourself in the quaint boutiques, art galleries, and eateries
of Coronado Island and Orange Avenue. Enjoy everything this unique destination has
to offer.

5K Run/Walk

Price: $25; Price Includes: Organization of the event and bottled water. Net proceeds will be donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Sponsored by Belimed
ISPE has added a new option based on Member suggestions. The 5K (3.1 miles)
course will run along the beautiful San Diego Harbor with Coronado in the background. The course takes entrants through both North and South Embarcadero
Marina Parks.
Net proceeds from the ISPE 5K run/walk will benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure
to fund breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment programs, as
well as the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund, to provide a permanent endowment for breast cancer initiatives. Trudy Contessa, Director of Human
Resources at ISPE will be participating in the 3-day walk for this charity while she
works the event.
Wednesday, 11 November
Option #1 – ISPE Golf Tournament at Steele Canyon

As one of Southern California’s finest golf clubs, Steele Canyon has been awarded
Golf Digest’s Four Star Rating, one of only three golf clubs so honored in San Diego
County. The 27-hole championship course was personally designed by Gary Player
to enhance and appreciate the natural beauty of the terrain. Each of the three
nines offers a distinct environment and type of play for all levels of golfers. The
rugged Canyon Course is famous for dramatic shot making challenges and breathtaking elevations, the Ranch Course winds through the fields of a working ranch,
and the Meadow Course stretches along the valley floor with beautiful woodlands
and streams.
Option #2 – San Diego Zoo Tour*

The famous San Diego Zoo houses the world’s rarest collection of animals, birds,
reptiles, and 5,000 species of exotic plants. Guests will have the opportunity to
relax and enjoy all that nature has to offer.

Begin your adventure before you even set foot inside the park, with a narrated
drive through San Diego, including Balboa Park. Follow that up with a VIP “Behind the Scenes” look at the zoo, including a private three mile guided tour with
two special stops for an inside peek at enclosures that are generally closed to the
public. Learn more about the zoo’s endangered species, the animals’ special feeding and handling requirements, and perhaps enjoy hands-on experience with some
unusual friends! This is a great opportunity for a fascinating and unique look at
the Zoo. After the special tour, guests can enjoy some free time for shopping and
visiting their favorite animals.

Option #3 – USS Midway and Aircraft Carrier Museum and City Tour*

Price includes: transportation, narrated city tour, admission, and self-guided
audio tour with guidance onboard the ship. Food and beverages are not

Dress: Wear comfortable flat shoes, suitable for stairs and ladders. A light
jacket is recommended due to winds on the Flight Deck.
See the favorite sights of “America’s Finest City,” old and new, all in one day!
First, enjoy a short journey to downtown and the historic “Gaslamp Quarter,”
where guests will learn more about San Diego’s early years and take in the
19th century Victorian architecture. Then, take a spin through nearby Balboa
Park, a 1,200 acre city park, which houses over a dozen museums, multiple
botanical gardens, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo.
Next, get ready for a memorable experience aboard the aircraft carrier USS
Midway on the beautiful San Diego Harbor. The Midway served for seven
decades and is now a permanent museum exhibiting historical and educational
aspects of naval aviation and the rise of American carrier power. Take a selfguided audio tour of the San Diego Aircraft Carrier Museum, which highlights
more than 40 exhibits and 21 restored aircraft and includes: interactive,
story-telling docents, many of whom are Midway veterans; access to
engineering, mess deck, berthing spaces, foc’s’le, hangar deck, flight deck,
and the island superstructure; two types of optional flight simulators; plus the
spectacular views of the San Diego skyline, the Bay Bridge, and the U.S. Navy
fleet! This activity-packed tour is a fascinating and fun way to see some of the
best that San Diego has to offer. Expect to climb stairs and ladders during the
visit to the Midway.

Registration
Education delegates, committee members, government, university faculty, and ISPE
Student Members attending education sessions may register online for Annual
Meeting Networking Events at www.ISPE.org/annualmeeting. You may also register
by completing the registration forms on pages 12 and 13, and returning them to
ISPE by mail or fax.
Full conference registration includes access to all four days of conference
educational sessions, Sunday Welcome Reception, plus breaks, lunches, and the
Tuesday Night Party. You may also purchase a one-day education pass to attend
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. The one-day pass does not include evening events, which may be purchased a la carte.
The form on page 12 may also be used for the Guest Package and Optional
Networking Event registration. The Guest Package includes: Sunday Welcome
Reception, Monday Guest Cruise and Brunch*, choice of shopping in La Jolla or
strolling in Coronado* on Tuesday, and the Tuesday Night Party. You may register

What to Wear
All ISPE Annual Meeting delegate functions are business casual. The guest, optional,
and evening functions are casual. Typical autumn weather in San Diego calls for
high temperatures around 70°F/21°C and lows around 54°F/12°C. Temperatures in
meeting rooms tend to be cool so bring a light jacket or sweater.
Education Program and Guest Cancellations
Education program and Guest cancellations need to be made in writing. If received
by 19 October 2009, a full refund, minus a 10% handling fee (maximum of US$100)
will be issued. After that time, no refunds will be granted.
Special Requirements
If you require special accommodations to participate, such as a wheelchair-accessible room, sign language interpreter, or have special dietary needs, please attach
a written description of your needs along with your registration form. Vegetarian,
