The tool is listed in the Mental Measurement Yearbook Series;
The tool is nationally distributed;
The tool is age appropriate;
The tool has been formally validated;
The tool is individually administered; and
The tool has been approved for use by the Illinois Department of Healthcare and
Family Services (HFS).
It is the responsibility of the provider to present proof of the above criteria to the DHS
Bureau of Early Intervention for HFS review and approval. The Mental Measurement
Yearbook Series can be found at the Early Childhood Intervention Clearinghouse, many
local libraries and by visiting the website at www.unl.edu/buros. There is a cost to
access some of the materials found on this website.
The list of approved tools can also be found on the Early Intervention website(s). All
new tools will be added to this list upon approval of HFS. Do not use a new tool until
you receive notification from the Bureau of EI that the tool submitted for review has
been approved.
