SUBJECT: Applications for Annual Insurance Management Seminar (AIMS)

Senior RMI majors are invited to apply to participate in the 2013 Annual Insurance Management

Seminar (AIMS), to be held October 17-18 at the Hotel Indigo in Athens. The conference is a roundtable discussion of current topics of importance in the risk management and insurance industry. Participants include about 35 executives from insurers, brokers, consulting firms, and corporate risk management departments; 7 RMI faculty; and 12 selected RMI majors. In addition to students selected for full participation in the seminar, a limited number of other students will be invited to join the group for dinner (only) on Thursday, October 17.

Besides the knowledge gained from the discussions, AIMS is a good opportunity to network with top-level industry people who are interested in meeting UGA’s RMI majors. Students are usually pleasantly surprised at how much personal attention they receive from the industry participants. Requirements for Student Participants: For full seminar participation, you must commit to attending a brief pre-seminar orientation session sometime during the week of September 23, and you must commit to being in attendance from noon on Thursday, October 17 through lunch on Friday, October 18. Included on Thursday night is a very nice meal at the Hotel Indigo.

Second, you’ll need to write a very brief (2 pages max) paper on a current topic that will be assigned to you, and then make a brief (3 minutes max) presentation on that topic at the seminar. Basically, students introduce their assigned topics, which will then be discussed by the group. (If for some reason you are unable to apply for full participation, you may apply to attend the Thursday night dinner only.)

How to Apply: Fill out the application form attached. Turn the form in to your instructor or to Dr.

Hoyt (206 Brooks Hall) by Tuesday, August 27, at 5:00 p.m. Applicants will be notified of the selections by Friday afternoon, September 13. NOTE: All else the same, preference will be given to Gamma Iota Sigma members, students who have completed internships, and students who will graduate this academic year.
