Section 2: About your UCL collaborator (the Second Applicant) and
external collaborators
The Second Applicant must be a UCL academic staff member (postdoctoral
level/equivalent or above) or an honorary academic researcher, employed/based in a
Department, ideally a Faculty, other than your own, offering clearly distinct
disciplinary expertise. The Second Applicant may alternatively be a UCL
Professional Services staff member.
Q.1 We particularly encourage applications from people who have not worked
together in the past. If you and the Second Applicant have worked together
previously please briefly describe your collaboration and its aims.

Section 3: About your initiative and UCL's 2034 strategy
Grand Challenges is the flagship embodiment of UCL’s institutional commitment to
provide wise solutions to global challenges [Principal theme 3 of the Provost’s 20year institutional development strategy, UCL 2034]
Q.1 Please outline how your initiative will contribute to strengthening UCL in
terms of the objectives of one or more of the other principal themes of UCL
2034 (minimum 200 words; maximum 500 words)
Section 4: About cross-disciplinarity
Your proposal must be genuinely cross-disciplinary in nature with clearly defined
contributions from your Second Applicant collaborator. Proposals aligning with the
UCL Global Citizenship Programme, the work of UCL Enterprise, and the priorities of
UCL’s Global Engagement Strategy are encouraged.

Impact may be achieved through diverse means, including: scholarly publications;
developments in teaching; knowledge transfer and research translation; novel
methodologies and techniques; new research partnerships; outcome of pilot studies
as bases for further grant-supported work; public engagement; community
engagement; policy engagement; international development; developments in
professional training and practice entrepreneurial initiatives, including links to
industry

Section 7: About schedules and budgets
