The mission of the Office of Technology Administration
is to provide world-class support to Xavier University’s
faculty, staff, and students by recommending,
developing and implementing plans and policies that

 Xavier University owns
and maintains the
telephone system
 Telephone service is
provided for all students
living in residence halls,
but students must bring
their own phones.
 Calling cards must be
used to make long
distance calls
Voice Mail
 Xavier University offers voice mail.
 It is highly recommended that all students utilize this
service .
 One mailbox per bed.
 Instructions on setting up and using voice mail is
posted on ITC Website under the Telecommunications
link.

 Each student is issued an
email account.
 Email address consists of

 Admissions Office notifies
students of their email and

information.

 As a user of Xavier University resources you:
 Are responsible for all activity originating from
your Windows domain account or from any
computer you register
 Must demonstrate respect for other users, their
privacy and Xavier University’s IT resources
 Must be aware that copying, downloading and
distributing copyrighted files without permission,
including on peer-to-peer networks, can carry
serious consequences.
Protect Your Computer
 Keep your firewall turned on.
 Keep your computer up-to-date with operating system and
software patches.
 Keep your computer free of malware (viruses, worms,
trojans, spyware, etc.).
 Use antivirus software and antispyware software and
keep it updated!
 Use a strong administrator password.
 A password is like a toothbrush. Get the best quality.
Change it often. Never let anyone else use it
Protect Yourself
 Be safe on sites like Facebook,
Instagram and Twitter
 Only “friend” people you
actually know.
 Remember that anything you
post on one of these sites
may be available to anyone in
the world FOREVER.
 Look out for scams including
malicious applications and
phishing.
 Be careful who you trust.
Accounts or groups may be
created to impersonate
Xavier University or other
organizations.

o Use a password protected screensaver
o Tablets and Laptops…take them home


Card readers are used to track attendance. Students
need XULA ID (Xcard) to do this.
