Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Xavier University Xavier University of Louisiana is proud to be a host university for the Louisiana Small Business Development Center, Greater New Orleans Region. In this role, Xavier provides valuable consulting services to local small businesses in areas such as finance, marketing, technology development, international trade, risk management, human resources, and disaster recovery. The Louisiana Small Business Development Center, Greater New Orleans Region is a partnership among Xavier University, Loyola University, Delgado Community College and Southern University at New Orleans, the US Small Business Administration and Louisiana Economic Development. This center has special expertise in disaster preparedness and recovery, business continuity, and sustainability planning. The collaboration provides Xavier students and faculty a greater opportunity to experience and work hands on in entrepreneurial ventures throughout a 7 parish region ranging from the urban areas of New Orleans to the River Parishes and the fishing areas of Plaquemines Parish. In FY 2012, the LSBDC Greater New Orleans Region has assisted small businesses in raising nearly $10 million in capital, has assisted in the creation of 151 new businesses, and assisted 1,174 local entrepreneurs.
