regarding updates and changes on
Student Financial Aid, we will
periodically send a financial aid
newsletter to all students. Please
take the time to read the
information below, as it includes
several significant changes to your
student financial aid for the upcoming 2014-2015 academic year, as well as
future years. We will continue to send newsletters as important information
becomes available.
Preparation for Registration/Fee Payment FERPA Release Waiver
The priority deadline date to submit hand
delivered verification documents is
August 8, 2014.
Reminders
If your dependent has received an award
offer for the 2014-2015 year he/she must
go to Banner web and accept or decline
their award.
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy
Act (FERPA), prohibits the release of
information. Any Student that would like
to share their information with another
individual must complete the FERPA
waiver. The form enables the Financial
Aid Office to disclose and or discuss all
financial assistance information only to
those individuals the student grants
access. For further details, please contact
the Registrar’s Office.
NOTE: In order for their aid to appear on
their assessment sheet they must click the
submit button.
Deadline Date to Participate in the
Early Registration Assessment
is August 8, 2014.

notification, you must complete the Plus Loan
credit check.

1. Go to www.studentloans.gov.
2. You, the PARENT, should sign in under Manage My
Direct Loan using your PIN (Personal Identification
Number) which is also used to sign the FAFSA. If you, the
PARENT are unsure of your PIN, the pin can be reissued
by going to www.pin.ed.gov.

3. When the next page opens, select Request PLUS Loan
from the menu in the center of the page.

4. Follow the steps to complete the application and credit check. In the school name section, be sure to select
Xavier University of Louisiana.
5. The results of your credit check will be available immediately. If your credit is approved, you will be given
instructions for completing a PLUS Loan Master
Promissory Note.

6. If your credit is not approved, you will have the options
to (1) appeal the credit decision by contacting the Direct
Loan Servicing Center at 1-800-557-7394, or, (2) obtain
an endorser, or (3) your dependent can apply for the
additional Unsubsidized Loan. For more information
