Dear Students,
In an effort to keep you informed regarding updates and changes on student financial aid, we will periodically send a
financial aid newsletter to all students. Please take the time to read the information below, as it includes several very
significant changes to your student financial aid for the upcoming academic year 2013-2014, as well as future years.
We will continue to send newsletters as important information becomes available.

Please read your XULA email account! If you are in jeopardy of
losing your federal financial aid for Fall 2014, an email was sent
to you. You are highly encouraged to read the entire SAP
Policy on our Office of Student Financial Aid’s website at the
following url link:

(Registration and Class Scheduling) January 9 – 13, 2014
Monday, January 13th - Classes Begin
Monday, January 13th -Late Registration (Starting at 8:00am)
through Wednesday, January 15th Closes at 4:00pm (Late
Please go on-line to www.studentloans.gov and complete
your entrance counseling. Your funds will not credit to your
student account if the entrance is not completed. If you have
any question, contact Ms. Rachal on (504)520-5213.
Registration and Adding or Changing Courses)
A $100.00 Late Fee applies for late registration.
Community Service Work-Study application will be
available at Registration.
Scholarship Terms and Conditions
Students who have accepted an academic scholarship for the
first time are required to sign and return a Scholarship Terms
& Conditions Form. The form can be found on our website at
http://www.xula.edu/financial-aid/documents/1314/ScholarshipTermsConditions.pdf
This is required in order for your scholarship to credit to
your account.
Note: Please refer to you XULA email account for
instructions on submitting the agreement.

Q: What is my remaining balance?

You can find your remaining balance by viewing your
account via Banner Web or visiting the Office of Students
Account in Xavier South Building-Room 300.

Q: When will financial aid fund post to my account?

Your financial aid will post to your account once the
following steps have been completed




Accepted and submitted your award letter
(Banner Web).
Completed Entrance Counseling (if you have
accepted a loan) (studentloans.gov).
Completed a Master Promissory Note (if you have
accepted a loan)(studentloans.gov).
Swipe your ID in all classes you attend
Q: Why hasn’t my scholarship posted?

In order for your scholarship to post, you must complete the
XU Scholarship Term & Condition Agreement.


YOU MAY RECEIVE A REFUND IF YOUR FINANCIAL AID IS
MORE THAN WHAT YOU OWE TO THE UNIVERSITY, AND THE
FOLLOWING OCCUR:
1.
AN ACCEPTED AWARD LETTER MUST BE SUBMITTED
(BANNER WEB)
2.
WE MUST VERIFY YOUR ENROLLMENT.
3.
MUST BE ENROLLED AT LEAST HALF TIME ( EXCEPT FOR
PELL).
4.
FEDERAL LOANS (DIRECT SUB, UNSUB, GRAD PLUS LOANS)
6 OR MORE HOURS.
5.
MUST BE ENROLLED FULL TIME FOR HEALTH
PROFESSIONAL LOANS & LOANS FOR DISADVANTAGED
STUDENTS.
6.
FIRST TIME LOAN BORROWER MUST COMPLETE THE
ENTRANCE COUNSELING. (WWW.STUDENTLOANS.GOV).
7.
A PROMISSORY NOTE MUST BE COMPLETED & SIGNED
(WWW.STUDENTLOANS.GOV).
Note: View
your billing statement to verify all funds have
been posted to your student account.
