Faculty Remember the SOS Survey!!
The Student Opinion Survey (SOS) is open to the students and will remain
open until May 13, 2014. Several campus announcements have been sent out
to the students advising them of this fact, but we also need your help. Please
encourage your students to go online and submit an SOS survey for each class
they attend. Please take this opportunity to provide the CRN to the students.
Remember, the results of these surveys are a part of your faculty evaluation.
Included in this document is the Student Opinion Survey Memorandum that
gives information about how to administer the survey. Also, I have included
detailed instructions below how students can access the online Student
Opinion Survey via eCourses in case the students have any questions.

RE: ONLINE ADMINISTRATION OF STUDENT OPINION SURVEY
The Student Opinion Survey (SOS) is now available for online administration to your currently
enrolled students. An instruction sheet can be found online at the following link:
http://ecourses.pvamu.edu for your students and provides directions to guide them in the
accessing and completing of the online SOS. The instructions below are provided to help
manage the task of distributing the instruction forms to these students.
During the implementation period, each instructor is asked to follow the procedures listed below:
 A campus announcement has been sent out to every student with instructions about how
to access the survey.
 Please provide the CRN (course reference number) to the students.
 Lecture and lab classes should be evaluated separately. Please inform the students that
they will need to complete a separate online SOS for their lab classes.
 If the course is located in a computer lab, or if the instructor chooses to move the class to
a computer lab for the SOS, the instructor is not to be present in the room while students
are completing the Student Opinion Survey.
 Students can complete the SOS in any location that contains a computer that has
access to the Internet.
The computer lab in the New Science Building, room 123, will be made available to
instructors who would like their students to complete the Student Opinion Survey. The lab
staff will be present to assist students in accessing and submitting the survey, if such
assistance is needed. However, computer labs are available all around campus, though not
all will have staff available to assist individuals. If an instructor wants to bring their class, they
should email dleaning@pvamu.edu to schedule a date and time.
IMPORTANT: THE STUDENTS MUST REMEMBER TO FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THE
ENCLOSED INSTRUCTION SHEET.
MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CLASS UNDERSTANDS THE SURVEY SCALE:
It starts with “STRONGLY DISAGREE” and ends with “STRONGLY AGREE”
The online survey for the session will open on March 26, 2014 and automatically end at
10:00pm on May 13, 2014. “Late” submissions will no longer be possible.
Deans and department heads will receive analyses, and they will pass them on to the individual
faculty. Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions or comments regarding the
project, please direct them to Dr. Dean Williamson at (936)261-2188; however all technology
questions or comments should be directed to the Office of Distance Learning at (936)261-3283.
