In Attendance:
Shira Halperin (VP/GSS Councillor), Brandy Kinkead (Treasurer), Stanley Chang (Secretary),
Michael Jones (DGSC Rep/GSS Councillor Alternate), Ryan Roberts (TSSU Steward), Graeme
Suppes (TSSU Steward), Hope Fan (Sports Rep/Interim Grad Info Coordinator).

1. Call to Order
• Meeting was called to order at 11:10 AM.
2. Appointment of the Speaker
• MOVED to appoint Shira Halperin as Speaker for this meeting.

• Shira Halperin (VP) was appointed Speaker for this meeting.
3. Appointment of the Secretary
• MOVED to appoint Stanley Chang as Secretary for this meeting.

• Stanley Chang (Secretary) was appointed Secretary for this meeting.
4. Approval of Minutes
• No changes to the minutes from July 3 and 9, 2012 were suggested.
• MOVED to approve the minutes of the July 3 and 9, 2012 Chemistry Caucus
meeting.

5. Soccer Social
• The Sports Rep (Fan) reported that the SFU Rec office does not require
participants in this event to sign a waiver if all participants are from SFU. The
Sports Rep (Fan) received both written and verbal confirmation that if all
participants are SFU personnel then they are covered by insurance.
• The social following the soccer game will have 1 table specifically for handling
money, and 1 separate table specifically for serving food and beverages.

The prices are tentatively set as follows:
o Burgers = $2 each
o Hotdogs = $1 each
o Beers and coolers = $2 each
Items to purchase:
o The Treasurer (Kinkead) will contact Howe Sound brewing to organize a
keg purchase. The contact person will be the TSSU Rep (Suppes).
o The Treasurer (Kinkead) and DGSC Rep (Jones) will purchase ~100
burgers and hotdogs, plus pop, water and juice on Thursday or Friday
morning (July 19 or 20, 2012).
o The Treasurer (Kinkead) will look into purchasing a BBQ grill to replace
the Caucus’ currently broken one.
o Other items to purchase by next week:
Cheese, buns, coolers, beers, plates, napkins, cups, condiments,
chips/snacks, trophy (from Value Village).
6. Finances
• The Treasurer (Kinkead) reported that the reimbursements from the Brukersponsored Chemistry Departmental Opening on June 27, 2012 are currently
being processed.
• The Treasurer (Kinkead) also hasn’t heard back from the TSSU regarding
payment to sponsor the TSSU BBQ on June 26, 2012.
• The Treasurer (Kinkead) will also speak to Dr. Ye regarding paying for a new BBQ
grill for the department.
• The Treasurer (Kinkead) is also waiting to hear back from the Chemistry
Department regarding invoices and amount owing for past purchases of model
kits, safety glasses and lab notebooks.
7. Conclusion
• MOVED to conclude the meeting.
