JOB PURPOSE:

 To provide support and encouragement to children attending the Holiday Scheme;

 To support the Holiday Scheme Manager, Deputy Manager and Holiday Scheme Education and

Welfare Officer;

 To facilitate the children attending to experience new activities, develop new skills and knowledge and to have fun;

 To devise, deliver and participate in activities during the periods of the day when there are no centrally planned activities taking place;

 To have knowledge of, be respectful of and implement all equal opportunities procedures that are concerned with the diversity and abilities of the children attending.

Responsible for:

1. Meet and greeting children attending at the beginning of each day, provide information about the days ’ activities and registering children as they arrive;

2. Organising children into groups to attend activities, escorting children to activities quickly and safely;

3. Encouraging children to participate by joining in yourself and being a good role model;

4. Help to serve snacks, lunch and tea-time snack, encouraging children to eat in the time allowed and ensure the lunch/snack area is left clean and tidy afterwards. Being mindful of any special dietary requirements of the children;

5. Developing, delivering and participating in suitable activities in partnership with other Scheme

Leaders and with the guidance and support of the Holiday Scheme Manager, Deputy Manager and the Education and Welfare Officer;

6. Escorting children to the home base quickly and safely in preparation for collection at the end of the day;

7. Providing activities and supervising children while awaiting collection;

8. Providing feedback to parents being mindful of data protection/confidentiality issues of the children attending;

9. Tidying spaces and leaving in a suitable condition at the end of a session or end of the day;

10. Reporting any concerns about specific children or other members of staff to the Head of

Children’s Services, Holiday Scheme Education and Welfare Officer, Holiday Scheme Manager or

Deputy manager;

11. Undertake any training required by the Holiday Scheme Manager, Deputy Manager, Education and Welfare officer or Head of Children’s Services;

12. Collecting and capturing feedback from children and their parents/carers to contribute and participate in an evaluation of the Holiday Scheme;

13. Be mindful of the cultural diversity and physical abilities of the children so that they are able to participate fully in the activities provided;

14. Any other activity reasonably requested by the Holiday Scheme Manager, Deputy Manager,

Education and Welfare Officer or Head of Children’s Services.
