A challenging opportunity
for research in
Experimental Radio Astronomy
R
aman Research Institute invites
applications from individuals with
strong motivation and passion for a
research career in Astronomy & Astrophysics.
Students having excellent academic record,
with core competence and research aptitude
in Engineering, Physics, Engineering Physics
or Computer Science are invited to be part of
a team working in frontier research areas in
Experimental Radio Astronomy and
Astrophysics.
The innovative research program will
address a broad range of key areas in
Cosmology, Fundamental Physics,
and Transient Universe. The team will
design, build and commission
specialized and purpose-built Radio
Telescope systems and associated
software algorithms. The engineering
skills required for such activities
include Signal and Image Processing,
Antennas, Low-noise Microwave
Receivers, High-speed Analog &
Digital Data Transmission &
Processing, Real-time & Off-line Signal
Processing and Statistical Analysis. We seek
individuals with ability and eagerness to
explore and travel to remote locations all over
the world.
The selected candidates will contribute their
skills to participate in worldwide
collaborations with professionals both within
and outside the Institute with complementary
expertise. They will also be encouraged to

There will be a two-year probationary period
in all cases, and confirmation after probation
will be based on performance appraisal.
Who may apply:
Candidates with a BE/BTech Degree or
equivalent in Electronics and Communication
Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science
or MSc in Physics may apply. A minimum of
90% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA
in the qualifying course is essential. Students
completing their qualifying degree by the
middle of 2016 may also apply. All applicants
are expected to have high scores in GATE in
their respective field of specialization (Physics,
ECE, EE, CSE or Mech. Engg.) or GRE.
Reservations for SC/ST/OBC candidates will
be as per norms.
Selection procedure:
Selection will be based on qualification,
performance in GATE/GRE, and interview.
Call letters will be sent mid-January 2016 and
