FOCUS ON: OPPORTUNITIES THIS TERM
11 November 2015, 9.00—16.00.
Managing Your Academic Career
A one day programme that provides women in academia
(and women returners) with a day of active reflection and
discussion on a wide range of issues that face women in the
management of their careers. The programme provides an
opportunity to examine existing skills, networks and
preferences so that they can effectively progress their
career. This programme is a collaborative programme
development by Vitae & UKRC which has been adapted for
Warwick Research Active Staff.

Publishing World Changing Research
Some of the university's most senior professors, who have
all published important work, will talk about their
experiences with journals, give tips, and share gentle
advice. Each will talk for just a few minutes. Most of the
session will be open discussion time from the floor.

Leadership in Action
This programme enables research active staff to explore and
develop their leadership skills. Participants have the
opportunity to look at relevant theory, practice their unique
leadership styles and receive coaching & feedback. The
focus is on you and your development and developing your
Research Active Staff
Network Funding
Funding is now available to support the set up or
maintenance of an existing research active staff network
over the current academic year.
Please note that applications will be considered on a first
come first served basis throughout the funding period,
until the £10,000 fund has been allocated.
Applications will generally be considered up to a limit of
£1,000. However, a discretionary limit of £2,000 can be
applied for if innovative activity is planned for a large
network of research active staff.
Applications may be made by Research or Academic staff
or those who are working for or with research active staff.
However, the activity and audience for any activity needs
to be primarily for research active staff.

Research Staff Forum Minutes
The most recent meeting of the Research Staff forum took
place on 8 October 2015.
Discussions with invited speakers included:

This university forum has been established to serve a
general networking function and to provide a focus for
gathering Research Staff views on issues such as
induction, learning and development opportunities and
share good practice and ideas.
