Distinguished Industry Veteran Sees Smart Grid Leader eMeter as Frontrunner in High Growth
Category
SAN MATEO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– eMeter, the leader in Smart Grid Management
software, announced today that former PeopleSoft CEO Craig Conway has joined its board of
directors. Conway joins existing board members from Sequoia Capital, Foundation Capital, and
White Ventures LLC.
With a proven track record of recognizing breakout opportunities for companies with disruptive
technology, Conway is widely recognized as one of the most respected leaders in technology,
transforming PeopleSoft into one of America’s most admired and successful enterprise software
global brands. He joins the eMeter board this month.
“eMeter is an industry visionary whose solutions reside right at the center of how value is created
from a smarter grid,” said Craig Conway. “Compliance for U.S. stimulus grants has just raised
the bar for required Smart Grid capabilities, but it’s left to each utility to figure out how to get
there. eMeter has the experience, and has already delivered the models for what’s defined in the
stimulus program and in emerging EU mandates.”
This move comes as the US government has named the 100 award winners of the $3.4B in
federal stimulus funds for Smart Grid initiatives. eMeter partners are prominent among the
stimulus award winners, while 7 new utilities across the US and the EU have signed on with
eMeter in just the past four months.
“Craig has demonstrated a rare ability to pick, and create, winners,” said Cree Edwards,
Chairman and CEO of eMeter. “Now that the stimulus grants have been awarded in the US, and
with the EU on the cusp of defining its policy direction, Craig recognizes that the market is at an
inflection point – and that eMeter has the experience and approach needed to lead in a period of
rapid growth.”
Mr. Conway has guided multiple companies through high growth stages. He served as Executive
Vice President at Oracle during its growth from $20M to $1.5B in revenues, and as President and
CEO of TGV Software and One Touch Systems. He currently serves as a director for
Salesforce.com, Advanced Micro Devices, and Pegasystems. The addition of Mr. Conway to the
board follows a $32 million dollar Series C round of financing led by Sequoia Capital and
contributes strongly to eMeter’s ability to execute on its plans.
