Institutional Effectiveness Committee
Proposed Provisional Process for Linking Program Review to
CR’s Integrated Planning Model
February 12, 2008
As program reviews are completed and approved by the Program Review Committee (PRC), they
are published and distributed district-wide.
Published programs reviews will be summarized by the IEC to identify needs that impact planning
in functional areas.
The IR Director, who chairs the Institutional Effectiveness Committee, will meet with each Division
Chair or head to clarify any inconsistencies and incorporate important updates.
After the IEC finalizes its review, summary will be submitted to the functional planning teams and
areas which are: facilities, information technology, library, student services, and human resources.
It is anticipated that functional areas will interview individuals in the various disciplines or
departments as necessary to clarify needs identified through program review and will develop a
plan for addressing prioritizing, and/or communicating with staff or faculty regarding these needs.
In some cases the needs expressed through program review can be addressed through normal
departmental operations. In other cases, functional team members will collaborate with individuals
in the disciplines, or departments to develop Action Plans to meet their needs. In some cases,
expressed needs cannot be linked to a practical solution in a reasonable timeframe, and in these
cases the leaders in functional areas are expected to communicate this with staff in the individual
disciplines or departments.
Needs identified through program review that may require a more expensive (greater than $10,000)
or long-term solution (e.g. greater than one year) may be incorporated by functional teams or
functional leaders into their functional plan. This may include expected timelines, costs, and other
important considerations (e.g. safety, ADA compliance, regulatory restrictions, etc.).
---Protocol for Functional Planning Interviews regarding Program Review
Process: Functional Planning teams will interview the Division Chairs regarding all the needs
requests for discipline or departments in their divisions stemming from program review. These
interviews will be conducted to confirm the requests and identify the level of urgency and
importance for each need. Functional planning teams and/or functional area managers will provide
additional information to inform planning decisions. All the information provided including
summaries of Program Reviews, Division Chair interviews, and input from the functional areas, will
be maintained in a database on the network, accessible by any staff or faculty with a network login.
