[Insert/delete as appropriate] CONFIDENTIAL TO MEMBERS AND ATTENDEES SC.X/YY-YY {Restricted} UNIVERSITY OF WARWICK For the meeting of the Steering Committee to be held on [X Month 20XX] [Insert the Title of the Paper] [Information contained in [ ] should be deleted or overtyped. Please use arial 11, putting section titles in bold, left justifying the text and using single line spacing. Please include an ‘Introduction’ section, including: the purpose of the paper, including what exactly you wish Steering to consider; summarise what the rest of the paper will cover re content; and, state which other Committees/routes the paper has been to previously (or explain if appropriate, why the paper has not been to previous relevant Committees). Papers should be no more than four pages in length wherever possible, with supporting papers provided via e-links in the body of the report, rather than in hardcopy. If your paper will be two sides A4 or less in length (excluding appendices /annexes), the paper and cover sheet may be consolidated. The programme of reports is designed to help the Steering Committee ensure it has a comprehensive understanding of objectives, issues and developments across the full spectrum of the University’s activities. It is therefore important for papers to be written holistically, drawing contributions from different units in thematic and crosscutting ways. Reports are not intended to be narrative summaries of departmental activity, but should focus on progress against goals and contextualising performance against benchmarks and sector-wide metrics, identifying shortcomings and remedial actions planned where appropriate (noting however, that there will be an extent of summary required in the reports identified as annual updates to Steering). Risk: To position Warwick within the top institutions in the world, and to establish a competitive edge, calculated risks will need to be taken. Although institutional risk will be considered in the context of termly strategic updates, it is expected that risk will be an integral part of all departments’ decision-making and strategic planning. An assessment of key risks relating to the areas covered in papers presented to the Committee should be explicitly highlighted, particularly but not exclusively where the Committee is being asked to make a decision. Further guidance on this can be given by the Steering Secretariat and/or by the Senior Assistant Registrar (Governance and Risk). Please contact the Steering secretariat with any queries via the steering.committee@warwick.ac.uk resource account.] Recommendation[s] [to go at the end of the paper] The Steering Committee is invited to: 1.
