Function & Scope: To manage computer resources efficiently in the Department of
Computer Science for instructional and research applications. The Technician is responsible
for maintaining and monitoring on all operations of computer laboratories including assisting
students, software installation/management, and hardware integrity for future needs by:

Monitoring the stability and maintaining effectively the computer hardware and
peripherals in the department of computer science
Resolving incidents and problems both directly from teaching labs and special project
labs.
Having experience in a variety of operating systems (e.g. Windows (NT, XP, Vista, 7,
8, 2003/2008/2012 Servers), UNIX (Sun Solaris 8 or 10), Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS,
Fedora, Red Hat)).
Having knowledge in Oracle 10g, 11g or latest version and having knowledge in
backup software system like Symantec, Acronis, Macrium Reflect or SCCM 2012.
Having good knowledge of PC, LAN, WLAN technologies, Network printers,
desktop/server software, application installation and compatibility
Working within current resource boundaries to develop practical solutions to
computing problems faced by the students and the staff
Taking timely action when necessary to ensure that critical activities like lab exams
are accomplished promptly and successfully
Preparing periodic reports of computer inventory which is required by the College of
Science computer users committee
Willing to work with minimal supervision
Performing other duties as assigned by the department Superintendent and or by the
HoD.
QUALIFICATIONS:
BSc in Computer Science degree with at least 3 years of experience.
