Goswami, Interim President/Superintendent Roxanne Metz, Director of Planning, Grants, and Institutional Effectiveness College of the Redwoods Planning Model and Strategic Plan Update We will cover: The planning model – how our plans link Update on the status of the Strategic Plan Review and discussion of strategic planning themes and issues The Planning Process CR’s integrated planning model (IPM): ◦ Identifies requests for furniture and equipment, facilities, technology, library materials, student services support, and staffing at the unit level ◦ Unit-level needs are based upon outcomes assessment data and program review ◦ The model links program review to planning and budget Insert IPM here. The Planning Process – Limitations of the IPM The IPM is operational (not strategic) The IPM is annual in nature (not multi-year) The IPM simply links program review to budget and planning and does not meaningfully address strategic initiatives The IPM has limited impact (only links plans with a budget impact, does not address needs for other planning e.g. related to curriculum, policy & procedure, cross-functional planning, etc.) Institutional Planning Elements Strategic Plan Education Master Plan Functional Plans ◦ ◦ ◦ ◦ Facilities Planning Technology Planning Enrollment Management Plan Budget Planning Unit-Level Plans How do these plans connect? Insert model here CR’s Strategic Plan Identifies broad, overarching, 5-year goals Specifies measurable objectives within each goal (more annual in nature) CR’s Education Master Plan The Education Master Plan incorporates the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan into specific initiatives. Functional Plans Functional plans implement the initiatives identified in the education master plan and support the goals and objectives in the strategic plan. Unit-Level Plans Individual units (instructional and service areas) develop plans based upon assessment results and program review.
