Build a strong, cohesive academic management team

Provide leadership and support in the management of the academic affairs department to help attain key institutional plan drivers

Evaluate tenured faculty

Ensure compliance of all academic programs

Encourage and promote professional staff development

Nurture positive faculty relations

Provide leadership related to the development of academic degrees and certificates

Develop academic articulation relationships with schools districts and other institutions for finalization by the VPSS.

Interpret for the college the policies and procedures of the ACCJC and to call attention to matters that may have application to the college, particularly when the ACCJC adopts or revises policies

Undertake the college’s accreditation planning and assure the logistics of accreditation work are accomplished

·

Maintain a file of all accreditation material

Notify the ACCJC in advance of substantive changes that are planning by the college

Work with administrators to ensure that compliance with the ACCJC standards and policies is incorporated into the ongoing planning and evaluation process of the college

Work closely with the Vice Presidents, Associate Deans, and Directors o assist in various program-level accreditation activities

Ensure broad-based institutional understanding of and involvement in institutional compliance with Commission standards, policies, and procedures, and emerging and evolving accreditation issues.

Associate Dean Duties

Assist the Executive Dean by providing leadership in and management of department functions to support the achievement of college educational goals

Work with the Executive Dean to nurture faculty relationships

Provide leadership and education to the college community in their area of responsibility in support of instructional goals

Provide the initial and continuing orientation of all faculty members, including assessment and classroom management

Coordinate curriculum change proposals

Assist faculty in developing new curriculum and curricula changes and oversee the proposals through final approval

Recruit, select, orient and evaluate associate faculty

Coordinate associate faculty evaluations with assistance of the fulltime faculty

Plan, organize and preside at academic division meetings

Resolve faculty and student issues

Process faculty qualification requests and documents

Build a sustainable level of course offerings that best meets student needs

Provide administrative oversight for instructional program review and assessment

Coordinate the development and implementation of student learning outcomes and assessment at the course, discipline, and program levels

Ensure assessment reports are submitted in accordance with assessment cycle plans

Carry out special assignments as directed by the Executive Dean
