Faculty Development Committee Meeting
Friday, October 28, 2011

Members Present: Kerry Mayer, Ryan Emenaker, Hillary Reed, Ruth Rhodes, Tony Sartori
Members Absent: None
1. Call to Order: Chair Kerry Mayer called the meeting to order at 12:02.
2. Introductions and Public Comment: Kerry welcomed everyone, and she called for public
comments; no public comments were forwarded.
3. Action Items
4.1 Establish Funding Criteria: Kerry reviewed the Faculty Development Guidelines and
Objectives that were approved by the Senate and revised most recently in 2009.
4.2 Evaluate and Approve Proposal Requests: The committee reviewed the requests and
agreed to funding recommendations for each proposal, with the recommendations
totaling $7,888. The funding recommendations will be forwarded for Senate
consideration on November 4 (see attached).
4.3 Establish Future Faculty Development Call for Proposals Timeline and Committee
Meeting Schedule: With $16,570 remaining for committee allocation, there was
consensus to distribute the next Call for Proposals no later than the first week of
December, with a submission deadline of January 20, 2012. The next committee
meeting was scheduled for Friday, January 27, at 12 p.m. in the Senate Office, with
the goal of forwarding recommendations for Senate consideration on February 3.
5. Announcements/Open Forum: The following items were noted by the committee: (1) A
clause should be added to the proposal instructions that only applications that are
complete when submitted will be considered for funding. (2) Another clause should be
added that funding for part-time faculty is contingent upon employment at CR in the
semester that the application is submitted.
6. Adjournment: Without objection, the meeting was adjourned at 1:18.
