The training utilizes protective skills in managing assaultive behavior on the part of suspects and clients. DESCRIPTION OF HOW THE COURSE WILL DEAL WITH THE SPECIFIC TOPIC: The training will consist of concepts and techniques of weaponless defense that emphasize safety and protective control for both the officer and the suspect. In order to accommodate the 8-hour day and eliminate overtime concerns it is permissible to give ½ unit of credit for 24 lab hours. Textbook Exception Weaponless defense and defensive tactics involves hands-on activity and instruction. The entire course is conducted in a gym setting on mats. It features extensive demonstration and physical activity. A textbook is not appropriate.
