DE Committee Agenda

Committee Charge: The Distance Education Team is charged with facilitating the development
of the institutional framework necessary for the expansion and continuous improvement of the
college’s distance education program.
Agenda
I.
Discussion and agreement of Committee Charge
a. This was suggested by Dr. Snow-Flamer
The initial charge will be to serve as a resource to the Distance Education
department; to make recommendations to Academic Senate, faculty, staff and
administrators in matters of policy, practice and pedagogy regarding distance
learning and technology-enhanced instruction; to assist faculty and staff in
learning about and integrating technology and distance learning into the
curriculum; to plan and implement innovative and creative opportunities that use
distance learning to meet the diverse needs of the District’s students. The charge
may change depending upon the thoughts of the committee when it's formed.

ACCJC Guidelines
a. Standard II C 1a "Is tutoring available for DE/CE students?"
b. Standard III C 1b "What technology or process does the institution employ to
ensure that the student enrolled in a DE/CE course is the same student that
participates and receives credit for the course?"
c. Standard IV A (evidence) "Evidence that a Substantive Change Proposal was
submitted to the commission when 50% or more of a program, degree, or
certificate is offered through DE/CE."

Here is the CCC call in information for the DE meetings in 2013, on Sept 19th, Oct 17th, Nov 21st
and for the 2014 meetings on Feb 20th, March 20th and April 17th.
For now, we will be meeting physically in LRC 104, the old High-Tech Center, which can be
accessed from inside the Eureka Library. It is located along the wall as you walk towards the
Academic Support Center double doors, past the LRC 107 conference room of which you may
be familiar.
