She is being paid out of class to do advising work. A new job description needs to be created, possibly a manager position, which would allow her to supervise staff. Statement of Need (Justify the need for the position) The Veterans Administration has strict requirements on allowable coursework that is different from the general population. It was difficult for the general advisors to maintain current on these unique requirements in this area, so Crystal Morse was given the advising duties to ensure the student-veterans were receiving the appropriate counseling required by the VA. In order to ensure student-veterans continue to receive the appropriate information, a permanent change needs to be made to her position. We have had audit findings in this area in the past, so it is imperative we ensure compliance. Additionally, if a staff member is hired to assist with the veterans program, a reclassification would be necessary for Crystal to be able to supervise this new position.
