Mission
TheCollegeoftheRedwoods’ProgramReviewCommittee(PRC)leadsandfacilitates
authenticassessmentasitrelatestostudentsuccessandplanningattheinstitutionforall
subjectandserviceareas.ThecommitteereviewsAnnualandComprehensiveProgram
ReviewsthatprovidethestrongfoundationuponwhichCollegeoftheRedwoodsdevelops,
identifies,states,anddocumentsqualityimprovementplansandgoalsincludingproviding
thedirectionofprioritizationoffundingandsupportneedsasorganizedunderthe
strategicplanningobjectives.
Vision
 ThepurposeoftheProgramReviewCommitteeistoreviewandevaluateannual
andcomprehensiveprogramreviewdocumentsforallsubjectandserviceareas
 PRCfinalizeseachprogramrevieworannualplanningdocumentwithanexecutive
summaryfortheIntegratedPlanningFunctionalCommittees(IPFCs)andforthe
District
Scope
ThePRCisresponsibleforthefollowing:
 Thesequence,notificationandevaluationofComprehensiveandAnnualprogram
reviewdocuments
 Theformatforprogramreviews,toincludeanevaluationof(1)program/unitgoals
andpurpose,(2)programdescription,(3)programeffectiveness,(4)
recommendationsandplanningforprogramimprovement,(5)
course/discipline/programPLOs/SLOsandassessment,(6)studentachievement
data,and(7)actionstakensincelastprogramreview
 Theidentificationandprovisionofappropriateinstitutionalresearchdataand
supportfortheprogramsandunitsbeingreviewed
 Thecalendarofprogramreviewactivities
 Forwardingofprogramreviewsubcommitteesummariesandexecutivesummaries;
and
 ForwardingappropriaterequestssubmittedthruprogramreviewtotheIntegrated
PlanningFunctionalCommittee’s
 ProvidingfeedbacktotheAssessmentCommitteerelatedtotheassessment
informationprovidedinprogramreviews
 InsupportofAP4021,PRCwillforwardatriskinstructionalprograms,toprovide
feedbacktoCIOandacademicSenateonprogramrevitalizationanddiscontinuance.
 PRCwillforwardtoappropriateVPanyserviceareaprogramsidentifiedwith
identifiedperformanceconcerns.

Membership
ThePRCisarepresentativegroupthatmakesrecommendationsaboutthecontentof
AnnualandComprehensiveprogramreviewdocumentsaswellasdisseminatesdatatothe
variousintegratedplanningcommittees.ThePRCincludesacrosssectionalrepresentation
ofemployeegroupsaswellasstudentrepresentation(ifidentified).TheCommitteeisled
bytwoCo‐Chairs—theVicePresidentofStudentServicesandtheVicePresidentof
Instructionortheirdesignees.
ProgramReviewcommitteemembershipsoffaculty,staffandstudentsaremadeintwo‐
yearalternatingappointmentstoprovidecontinuityandongoinghistoryforthe
Committee.Eachmemberhastheresponsibilitytoattendeachmeetingandadheretothe
committee’srules.Memberswith3absencesinasemestermaybereplacedbythe
appropriateconstituentgroup.Membersareresponsibletodisseminatecommittee
informationtotheirrespectiveconstituents.

todisseminatecommitteeinformationtotheirrespectiveconstituents.
Meetings
MeetingswillbesetbyconsensusbutwillnormallymeeteveryFridayfrom10:00‐12:00.
Theregularmeetingcalendarfortheacademicyearwillbesetatthefirstmeetingin
September;additionalmeetingswillbesetasnecessarytoensurethatplanningworkis
completedaccordingtotheplanningcycletimeline.
DecisionMakingProcessandBasicCommitteeGroundRules
ThePRCwillmakedecisionsbasedonconsensus.Themembershipshall:
 Putstudents’needsaboveeverythingelse
 Haveanopenperspectiveaswellasdemonstratefair‐mindedness
 Expressopinionsinwaysthatpreserveintegrity,developmutualunderstanding,
andpromotecollaboration

Besureallperspectivesareheard
Usetimeefficientlyandstayontask
Takeadvantageoftheopportunitytocommunicate,tolearnfromeachotherandto

Acceptandsupportconsensusofdecisionsvoteduponafinalwithoutongoing
subsequentrevisions.Recommendedrevisionswillbeputintoafileforperiodic

PlanningPrinciples
ThePRCembracesthefollowingplanningprinciples:
1. Theplanningprocessandtheplansthatityieldswillbelearning‐centeredandwill
supportthequalityoftheCollege
2. Theplanningprocesswillbecollaborativebyoperatingwithinthecollegial
consultativestructureandensuresbroad‐basedparticipationandbyprovidinga
meansforstakeholdergroupstobeheardandtoinfluencetheplan
3. Theprocesswillbuildtrustthrougheffectivecommunicationandnegotiation,by
makingitsafetoidentifyandchallengeassumptions,andbysupportingagreements
onsharedvalues
4. TheprocesswillbemeaningfulinthatitwillhelptheCollegetoestablishavisionof
thefuture
5. Theprocesswillbedata‐informed,usingqualitativeandquantitativedata,routinely
reviewedastheplanisimplemented,withtheaimofcontinuousimprovement
6. Theprocesswillhaveaclearcycleofactivities,withabeginningandend,andtimed
andstructuredtocoordinatewellwithWASC/ACCJCaccreditationrequirements
7. Theprocesswillbeassimpleaspossiblewhileyieldingaviableplanandintegrating
planningintopermanentgoverningstructuresandcollege‐widemeetings
8. Theprocess,itslanguage,itsproducts,andtheresultsoftheplanwillbe
communicatedtoallemployeesinternally
9. Theprocesswillbetrulycomprehensive,andwillhaveclearlyassignedrolesfor
individualsandgroups,includingstudents
Communication
ThePRCiscommittedtoacollaborativeprocesswithmanyopportunitiesforinvolvement
bythosewithinthecollege.Throughouttheplanningprocess,thePRCwillholdmeetings,
consultationswithkeyconstituencies,anddiscussionswithintegratedplanning
committees,andtheseniorleadershipteam,allofwhichcombinetoenablebroadbased
participationinthevariousphasesofprogramreviewevaluationandgeneralplanning.
ThePRCwillshareitsreports,planningdocuments,andrecommendationswiththevarious
integratedplanningcommittees,aswellastheDistrict.
PRCwillpostallcurrentandupdatedinformationonthePRCwebsite.
