(completed spring 2016) Section 2, Data: revise section or provide analysis section. Determine which noninstructional program reviews might benefit by data analysis. Discussion on how the shift to a 4-year assessment cycle will affect program review and tying resource requests to assessment. 1/22/16 (Annual Instructional reviews): CIS and Dental program reviews were exemplary in every category. Note: Dental template did not have table 4.1 included. Assessments are improving overall; the most common criticism would be for assessments to include some detail on why students did well or what change needs to be made and why, based on assessment. 2/16/16 Annual Reviews, continued: The committee discussed Section 4.1. Evaluation of Previous Planning: “measureable outcomes and the impact of previous planning.” In some reviews planning and the program seem to be disconnected: the plans are not measureable or are not really a “plan.” There should be more analysis of the impact or the impact of the evaluation could be made clearer. The committee discussed defining what constitutes a “plan” and how it should be evaluated. (It was discussed and agreed that Wendy will take this to the Professional Development Committee as a training opportunity.) 3/11/16 DE and Comprehensive Reviews: Committee suggests the removal of the “optional” data analysis summaries under section 2.1: Enrollment and Fill rates; and section 2.3: Success and Retention) Provide more instructions for templates; via a Tips and tricks vs. more instructions Consistency in program review template titles and department and division titles Discussion limiting the amount of text in a template, or provide instruction on how to provide detailed information in a concise format. Discussion to email the Executive Summary to all, as well as post, to ensure this information has been made available to all; and possibly include a web link to the templates and the final resource prioritization rankings. (The committee discussed utilizing language from the rubric that will offer one “voice” throughout the evaluation process.) 3/25/16 Exemplary Program Reviews: Biology/Environmental Science – Exemplary Program Review, all sections; but their assessment reports are a model for expressing meaningful language relative to improvement through the assessment cycle. Drafting Tech – Exemplary Program Review all sections; but is an exceptionally good model for evaluating previous plans: concise yet informative Manufacturing Technology -Exemplary program review (all sections).
