This year’s deadlines for submitting Faculty Development Grants are: • September 19, 2014 • October 31, 2014 • February 13, 2015 • April 3, 2015 (if needed) Guidelines for the Faculty Development Grant program and application forms are available online and can be accessed at the Office of the University Provost Website, http://www.mtsu.edu/provost/awards.php or may be obtained from the Office of the University Provost. Grant applications must be submitted on the most current form which may be obtained from the Office of the University Provost or online at the above link. The original completed grant application printed on one side of page only with required original signatures from chair and dean should be submitted to the Office of the University Provost, CAB 111 by 4:00 PM on the submission deadline date. If you have additional information, such as a brochure, please submit it along with your original application. Application forms must include original and thorough description of the project, a statement of the objectives, citing sources, and a discussion of the potential project benefits to be derived by both, the faculty member(s), and the University, an itemized budget, and a total funding request. Brochures and other pertinent information accompanying the proposal will strengthen the chances of funding. Proposals should clearly meet guidelines for faculty development as opposed to instructional development. Priority will be given to proposals that develop individuals in their discipline and to proposals that have received substantial funding from the applicant's department. Travel funding must meet Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines. While no dollar limits are set on applications, large requests are unlikely to be funded. The median request granted by the 2013-2014 committee was approximately $1,054.56. To receive grant funds, the applicant must be a full-time tenured or tenure-track MTSU teaching faculty member/faculty groups, and/or departments. Preference will be given to applicants who have not received support from this committee within the past two years. In the event that limited resources remain at the end of the year, distinctions between meritorious applications will be made based on the date of receipt of the application. Once the grant project has been completed, please notify the Office of the University Provost, 111 Cope Administration Building and indicate whether any funds are remaining in the account. Remaining funds will be used to fund additional Faculty Development Grants. Upon project completion, grant recipients are required to file a final report with the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs. Submission of a final report is a prerequisite to consideration of subsequent grants. If the funded project results in publication, support by the FDG should be acknowledged in that publication as follows: “Financial support was provided by the Faculty Development Grant Committee of Middle Tennessee State University”.
