CONTINUED DISCUSSION OF ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS The committee reviewed the revisions that Finney proposed to amend the policy on page 26 of The Logger concening eligibility to participate in intercollegiate club sports. Since the current policy was not intended to include intercollegiate sports, the revisions proposed by Finney amounted to inserting the word “varsity” before the word “intercollegiate” in the current policy. ACTION HAMEL M/S/P THAT THE COMMITTEE APPROVE THE REVISIONS TO THE POLICY IN THE LOGGER AS PROPOSED. DISCUSSION OF PROPOSED POLICY REVISION FOR ACADEMIC WARNING The committee reviewed the revisions that Roundy proposed to amend the policy on academic warning on page 21 of The Logger to include the need for students who are on academic warning to develop a plan for academic improvement, as students who are on academic probation are already required to do. After considerable discussion, the committee agreed to a slight revision of the language that Roundy had proposed. The revised language to the policy will read: “When placed on academic warning, a student is expected to develop a plan for academic improvement with a counselor from the Academic Advising Office with the student’s academic advisor. Compliance with this plan will be considered by the Academic Standards Committee in deciding whether to continue a student who is placed on academic warning for a second term (and is therefore eligible for suspension).” ACTION ROUNDY M/S/P ADDING LANGUAGE ABOVE TO THE ACADEMIC WARNING POLICY IN THE LOGGER THAT REQUIRES STUDENTS TO DEVELOP A PLAN FOR ACADEMIC IMPROVEMENT. Given that there were no other agenda items to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 12:25pm. Respectfully submitted, Ann Wilson
