Professional Standards Committee February 7, 2000 Bruce Mann called the meeting to order and acknowledged a visitor for the day. Peter Austin, nephew of John Hanson, attended as part of his assignment to shadow a professional for a day. Committee members introduced themselves to Peter and attempted to adopt a stance of elevated decorum. The committee discussed a proposed interpretation of the Faculty Code clarifying the process for including non-departmental letters in faculty evaluation files. After discussion of a draft of this interpretation, the committee agreed to return to the document at the next meeting for a formal vote. A committee member suggested that PSC memos had often arrived in departments without a specific signature attached and, hence, seemed to come from no particular person or group of people. The committee agreed that a list of all committee members should be provided at the bottom of future committee memos to departments or individuals. The committee then returned to its ongoing process of reviewing departmental statements of standards and procedures submitted to the committee for approval. Respectfully submitted, Terry A. Cooney
