The course covers many of the basic themes that underpin the building of library collections and the development process, beginning with identifying the nature of the users’ needs, the development of a policy to build library Collections includes: materials selection, sources of supply, supply measures, followed by assessing the importance of groups and methods of evaluation

COURSE AIM
The course aims to develop students' skills in building library collections, according to the formulation of scientific policy, emphasizing the importance of meeting the user's needs in the light of the physical capabilities of the library and achievement of the objective of balance in their collections

COURSE OBJECTIVES
Produce graduates that have the ability to embrace and develop innovative approaches in the field of building and developing library collections

COURSE INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES
Graduates will acquire the knowledge and skills to think critically in the formulation of scientific policies in the field of developing library collections, and Websites searching, organizing information, offering information services, using new tools to develop library collections and manage information institutions, and solving problems

Attendance
Attendance at class is mandatory. Course Instructors should keep attendance records. An
"absentee warning notice" will be issued if a student is absent for:
• More than 10% in courses with less than 75 total contact hours.
• More than 5% in courses with 75 or more total contact hours.
An "absentee withdrawal notice" will be issued and the student will be deemed to have withdrawn from the course with an 'FW' grade if a student is absent for:
• More than 20% in courses with less than 75 total contact hours.
• More than 15% in courses with 75 to 150 total contact hours.
• More than 10% of total contact hours for courses with more than 150 total contact hours.
