Postgraduate Studies:
The current MSc programs in the COMHS are two-year full time programs. Eight
departments have been granted the option of offering M.Sc degrees. Of these, five
departments in our college have started MSc Programs within the last four years.
The PhD programs are research-based programs aimed at developing research expertise
in different specializations and equipping students with relevant specialized skills.
Coursework is prescribed if deficiencies are identified. In addition to the participation
and oral defense of the thesis, the programs also require presentation of detailed research
plan, at least two departmental seminars and acceptance of at least one paper for
publication in an international journal.

Research
The ADPSR Office is responsible for coordinating the funding processes pertaining to
research and consultancy in the COMHS in association with the Research and
Innovation Department of the Office of Deputy Vice Chancellor for Postgraduate
Studies & Research and the Deanship of Research. The Office, together with the
College Medical Research Committee, administers the funding processes of research
projects.
Published research is now recognized as the main aspect by which Universities are
ranked. The higher administration of SQU is fully aware of this fact, and important steps
have been taken, at different levels, to increase awareness among all the faculty and staff
of the university.
