Quick Introduction of group mission statement
o “The goal of PWiCS is to take positive action to encourage women to participate in
computer-related studies, research and careers, to promote their marketability in
industry, and to support a congenial atmosphere.”
o Quick introduction of names around the room
Discuss proposal ideas to best attract and retain women in the computer science major
o What have other universities done for incoming freshman
 Meetings in dorms
 Seminars for women
 Tutoring
o What have other universities done in terms of mentoring undergrads?
o What ways can best we best advertise to retain and attract women to CS?
 Newspaper ads, forum nights?
Discuss and take vote on possible group conversion to ACM-Women
o Group voted-All agree to be a part of ACM!!!
