• 1/6-2 Iraqi National Police inspected
westbound vehicles for VBIEDs on a
main E. Baghdad
• NP were suspicious of a Black Daewoo
Prince approaching from passing lane.
Last resort, driver detonated the device
as inspection started
• Five NP soldiers injured and evacuated
to Al Adnan Hospital
• Three NP soldiers treated and released,
other two held in stable condition
• Hospital staffed cheered heroism of
their NP
• 6/2 NP CF Special Police Transition
Team later arrived on scene to provide
first aid to some of the NP soldiers with
minor wounds from the blast.
• Investigation ongoing.
Assessment
In an ongoing effort to prevent antiIraqi forces freedom of movement, the
NP, IP, and LNs continue to be a threat
and targets of AIF.
